Solomon Bocock

SOLOMON BOCOCK - Was born in Grant county, Indiana, October 13, 1838, and is a son of Alfred BOCOCK, a pioneer of this county.
At the age of twelve Mr. Bocock, in company with his father, settled in Bouse's Grove. He has always been identified with farming interests.
When the Government needed assistance, Mr. Bocock was among the very first to answer the call, and enlisted September 23, 1861, in the 10th Illinois cavalry, for three years. He was discharged at the expiration of his term of service, but re-enlisted and served till the close of the war.
While at home on a furlough, he was married March 6, 1864, to Miss Anna A. BOOTS, daughter of Eliza BOOTS, formerly of this county. They lived during the first three or four years on a rented farm; but on the 12th of February, 1869, moved to their own home, where they still reside. This industrious couple have, by their own industry, adorned their home with many things that tend to make it an attractive spot. The family consists, besides the parents, of four children--a son having died in infancy. The names of the others are, James W., Minnie M., Arthur T. and Alva.
