I am wondering if anyone can tell me anything about the High School at Sidney, IL in the year 1861. Zera Patterson at age 23 came from Jackson Co, IA to attend this school. He then entered the Civil War, joining the 2nd Illinois Cavalry at Springfield. Did it have some kind of specialty; was it a regular high school. Zera became a school teacher in Iowa - perhaps he was a teacher at Sidney, instead of a student, at the advanced age of 23?
