Submitter: Judi Ellis (gdellis2@swbell.net)
Date: 17 Sep 1999
I am searching for information about RUTH ANN SPRAGUE CONGER, who I believe died and is buried in Champaign County, Illinois. She was the 2nd wife of AARON CONGER, and was born in Monroe Co., Ohio, 19 Feb.,1831; married 3 Sept., 1855, Bartholomew Co., Indiana. Mrs. Conger may have been living in Sidney, Champaign Co., IL, at the time of her death. The oldest of the five children born to this union was born in March of 1857, the last child was born in 1863, in Springfield, Sangamon Co., IL. The 2nd child of this couple, Aaron Conger, Jr., "died in Illinois in 1870," no day, month or city listed for this event. Aaron Conger married JANE MABE, his 3rd wife, in 1866. A 1930 DAR report simply states about Mrs. Conger, "died in Illinois." In looking through the dates for Mr. Conger, his 3 wives and 23 children, it would appear that he moved back and forth between Champaign Co., IL, Monroe Co., OH, and Bartholomew Co., IN. As the first child of Mr. Conger's 3rd marriage was born in Sidney, Champaign, IL, I believe it possible that this might be the place of death for Ruth Ann Conger.
